The Ghost Writer
This was an incredibly enjoyable way to spend two hours. Go see it. I only have a few things to say about it:
1. Kim Cattrall’s English accent was absolutely dreadful. My dog could do a more convincing accent (really, you should see her after a few pints). She looked the part, but really I couldn’t tell you if she acted it well (I think, actually, that maybe she did?) because the accent was distractingly bad.
2. The movie is also legitimately funny, though the humor is naturally pretty subtle. My kind of thriller.
3. The suspenseful music verges on ridiculous at times, in that “I would have no idea I was watching something suspenseful were it not for the music” sort of way. That, combined with the fact that I was laughing a lot and the presence in the film of a stern, bizarre Asian cook sometimes made me feel a bit like I was watching “Clue.”
Phew. Ok I did it.
